It all
started back in December 2013 when my wife surprised me for my 60th birthday
with a three week trip to the UK, including a week on the canals in a narrow boat.
A narrow boat cruise has been on my
bucket list for over 20 years and we have always wanted to tour Devon and Cornwall... and so here the chance was! But back in December, September 2014 seemed
an awful long time to wait.
Michelle had
booked us business class returns on British Airways and booked the narrow boat,
but the rest of the planning was all up to me.
Fortunately, that is something I really excel at and enjoy, so I immediately
threw myself into the task!
In this blog
I will begin by taking you through the planning of the trip, in the hope that
some of what I have learned so far (and still will discover) may be useful to
other travellers.
Later on, whilst
we are on the trip, we intend to post a daily journal and upload pictures as we
travel around, keeping friends and family up to date with our progress.
