Day 12 - On The Narrowboat - Foxton Locks to Crick

We have a fairly comfortable night, are up early, have a nice breakfast and are off on our 2nd day of boating.  Thank goodness it is not raining.  It is cloudy and cold, but blue skies peeping through.  The weather forecast for this week is not promising.  Lots of rain predicted!
I am sitting at our table in our lounge, looking out at the back of the boat, watching Paul steering the boat.  He looks so damn natural at this, so happy and content, it frightens the hell out of me!!!

Our day along the canals has been so chilled and relaxing. Freezing out on the back of the boat so some of the time I am able to sit with Paul but then I come inside to warm up.  Some parts of the canals are really narrow, with overhanging trees coming up from either side of the canal.  Other times, the canal is fairly wide with some houses on either side.  Sometimes we pass a boat going in the other direction and have to slow down to pass them.

We have come across families of swans and ducks and once I have seen squirrels running over a stone bridge we are going under.

Generally very quiet and relaxing.  The skies seem to have cleared thank goodness. It is cold.

We are trying to get to Crick to moor for the night and hope to be there by 4pm.

I have been reading "Behind Palace Doors -my service as the Queen Mother's Equerry" which seems to be perfect reading for today's activities.

We have just moored and walked into the village for dinner at the Wheatsheaf Pub.

See this house was for sale?   We bought it...   Lauren and Taryn..  send the house contents and kitties...  we are not coming back!      --     PLEASE NOTE!!    Relatives and friends by appointment only!!

Paul had a butchers sausage and mash, with red cabbage and I had a veggie lasagne with side salad.  Of course I had a lager and blackcurrant to drink and Paul had a local ale.  Could get used to this alcohol!

It was freezing walking into town and we looked like two abominable snowmen.  People were even looking at us.  We were freezing and we have not even arrived in Scotland!

We are going to watch a movie on the DVD player tonight.  Last night we went to sleep too early and did not sleep well.
The Captain relaxing on the stern after supper with a whisky!

Well that's all for today. Sleep tight family and friends.
Love and miss you all.

Xxx
