Day 21 - Lake District to Scotland

After an amazingly comfortable nights sleep, we have a lovely breakfast and book out of Oakfold House.

We travel north through little towns along the lakes.  All so beautiful. The autumn leaves along the edge if the water, with the green hills, makes the most impressive scenery.

Never mind, Austria, Germany, or Switzerland, if one wants the most magnificent scenery, the Lakes District in England is right up there with the best.

We now travel towards Falkirk, Scotland. We are excited to get into Scotland at last.

Paul wants to see the Falkirk Wheel, which has replaced 11 locks along the Scottish canals.  He is insistent that we go on this boat up the wheel, which is about 5 storeys high! The tour takes about an hour. Check out the pics.

We have now arrived at the hotel, in Stirling, which is 16 miles from Falkirk.  Beautiful new Hotel which is down the road from the pool which hosted the Glasgow Games.

Got bad news from home today, Lauren's little daschund was run over and killed today, and also at the same time, her fox terrier Beannie, was run over but has run off and disappeared.  Very tragic.  Rest in Peace, little Peanut.  We will miss you. I am praying that they find Beannie and he recovers.

All this has made me very homesick today.  Miss my girls. Xxx    But the adventure must continue.

The skies are grey and heavy and more rain is predicted for the next few days.  Never mind, we have warm clothes and rain jackets.  I read a sign in a window yesterday: "there is never bad weather, just a bad choice of clothes"
