Day 19 - Manchester to Kendal

After our very comfortable night at the beautiful hotel in Bury, Manchester, we had breakfast and left the hotel to walk around the famous Bury Market.

Most of the shops were closed but we managed to find a nail bar, where I had my nails done with shellac.
The ladies were all Thai, and I really could not understand much of what they were saying...    a Manchester accent, mixed with a Thai accent is impossible!

My nails look lovely, and when she heard I was from SA she did some freehand nail art on my ring fingers free of charge.  Beautiful!

Leaving Bury, we drive towards Clitheroe, which is a little village in Yorkshire.

We walked through a flea market type of place, and bought a little miniature pie each for lunch.

Very hilly town, but small with a few cute shops.  I bought a nice woven woolen scarf, I am so freezing here, the wind is icy.

Paul found a sausage shop with the biggest selection of sausages you have ever seen!

The area is absolutely beautiful, very, very green.   Miles of hills covered in green grass, stone walls dividing the farms.

Lots of sheep with different colors painted in their backs. Really funny.  Some herds have a splotch of green, others red, not sure what it means, if it is a way to brand the sheep or if it is a way to differentiate sheep on one particular farm.

We also pass through a little village called Gargrave, next to a canal, where we saw some narrowboats.

We then head off towards Kendal, stopping off for a pint for Paul and a cup of tea for the civilized better half, at a beautiful country hotel called "The Plough".

Arriving in Kendal around 4pm, we are totally taken aback by how beautiful it is.  Quite a large town, but no big shopping centres, all small little shops lining the main streets, hundreds of them.
We book into our hotel and then go for a walk, wandering through the streets, enjoying shopping and seeing all the different merchandise.

We discover a little Italian Trattoria, and Paul goes in to chat to the owner who does not speak any English. We think we are going to go there for dinner.  Looks delish... but on our return to our hotel, we decide to just eat in the hotel restaurant, as it is so cold outside to walk back into town.

We have brought all our suitcases into our room and I am now going to sort out our clothes for the next few days.
Another day has ended and we have had fun! Beautiful scenery, friendly people and amazing things to see!
Miss u all.
