Waking up in the castle, after an incredibly windy night,
with the hurricane Gonzalo wreaking havock on the creaking sounds in the house
and the huge trees outside.
Woooooo.......scary!
We leave after breakfast and make our way into the city
if Edinburgh. What a beautiful city. The
history and the culture of this city are incredible, the buildings in the old section of the city
are some of the most beautiful I have ever seen. Some of them dating back to
the 1500's.
There is so much to see, like any large city in Europe,
there are the exclusive department stores, Harvey Nichols, Gucci, Louis
Vuitton. Many, many cathedrals and
ancient churches, the enormous Edinburgh Castle on top of the volcanic hill,
museums, theaters, galleries, university buildings.
Making use of the inner
city parking option, we ditched our car. We walked, and walked.....and
walked.
Stopping in some tourist shops
to purchase gifts. We purchase tickets
to one of the hop-on-hop-off buses, hopping
on and off at various stops around the city.
We ate a quick sandwich at
Lucano's Kitchen in the Greyfriars section of the city, rows of Italian restaurants and
pizzeria's.
It was a very cold day, with temperatures around 9
degrees, but around 6 degrees in the inner city where we were. Whew, chilled to the bones, we left the city
around 4pm.
There were many traffic jams
because of the weather, the end of the hurricane causing terrible winds on the
bridges.
We eventually got back to Aberfeldy at around 8.30pm.
Tired and very sleepy.
Early night.
