Day 28 - Skye and back to Aberfeldy

After a good night's sleep, warm and cosy in our heated bedroom (just love the radiator heating system in the UK), we have a good breakfast and go for a walk to the village and the harbour.

B & B we stayed at  -  Balloch
Thank the universe it has stopped raining.

We are off back to Aberfeldy today, where we need to pack and sort out our luggage for the balance of our trip, sorting a suitcase for Paris.

But on the way, a very important stop at Eilean DonanCastle. The castle is such a beautiful sight even in the rain, especially in the rain!

It is set in the edge of a piece of land, jutting out into the loch.  We go into the castle which has been restored and turned into a museum.

It is all about the Mac Rae Clan, so Paul is enjoying himself immensely.  I am very interested to read up on this all, and eager to see the inside of the castle.

We shop a little at the gift shop for last minute gifts as this will be our last day in Scotland.  Tonight we sleep at Moness Country Club in Aberfeldy for the last time and then tomorrow morning we start making our way back to London, with an overnight stop in Preston.

Our journey back to Aberfeldy this afternoon was so beautiful, with the sun coming out every 10 minutes and the rain and mist coming in between. The SatNav takes us on a totally different route home and we find ourselves on some really narrow back roads, through farmlands and up and down hills, over bridges, through villages, past cows, past sheep, black sheep, white sheep, spotted sheep that look like Dalmatians.  But Jensen Button gets us home safely.
Now it is time to shop for supper, we find this nice organic farm shop in the village with the most amazing produce, including imported cheeses, fresh artisan breads, pate's and yummy things, so we are having a real French supper in anticipation of our trip to France.
I am now once again, doing a load of washing and typing up this blog. Then I will be repacking all our suitcases so that we can take one each to Paris, as we are leaving all the other suitcases at the hotel in London.

So another day has ended and we will say a very sad "au revoir" to Scotland.  It has been so much more than I ever imagined and I really hope to return to spend some more time exploring this incredibly beautiful, rugged, country of extremes!
Xxx
